New Walk Form

Use this form to send details of a walk you intend to lead to the walks' coordinator.

If you know your intended route, and have all the required details to hand, then you can complete this form now. When submitted, this form will be sent to the walks coordinator. The details will then be discussed at the next walks planning meeting. If you are not sure of a route but would like to lead a walk, simply attend the next walks planning meeting where there will be books & maps to browse.

If you prefer, you can download and print a blank copy of this form to fill in by hand and submit in person at the next walks planning meeting.

Walk Leader Details

For insurance reasons, every walk leader must be a member of the Ramblers Association. We suggest you have been on at least three walks prior to leading a walk. This will let you get a feel for the type of terrain we cover, pace of the walks, size of the group, distance etc. If you are not a member, you can join the Ramblers Association.

Your contact details given below will be published on the programme & website. You can set up a seperate account on Yahoo or Hotmail etc. if you do not wish to disclose your personal email address. The email address you provide will be edited to include the phrase "anti-spam", which must be removed manually by anyone wishing to contact you & will prevent any automated spam reaching your account.

All walks should have a "back marker". This should be someone from the group who has been on at least three walks and is willing to stay at the back of the group to close gates etc. where necessary. The back marker should accompany the walk leader on a reccie of the intended route prior to the real walk.

Walk Details

Please indicate your preferred date(s) for leading this walk. If you have no preferences then please indicate so (eg. "any weekend", "any Saturday" or "any Sunday".) Consider the available daylight hours especially for longer walks (over 10 miles) in winter months. To see what dates are available, please check the Yahoo group calendar.

Please specify a grade for your walk. For more information on the grading options, see the RA website.

Read explanations of grades

Include a short description of the walk, whether it's linear or circular, terrain, and any other information you think might be useful.

Give a description of the start point (eg.outside the Red Lion pub, road name, village name, county) and how to get to it (e.g. "Mill Lane is on the A222, 1/2 mile after village X as you head towards village Y")

Specify the OS Grid Reference of start point (OS Landranger/Explorer series including the two letter zone code). If you are not sure how to do this - find the location on www.streetmap.co.uk - click on the exact location so that the map and arrow centres on it. Then click on "Click here to convert/measure the coordinates" (below the map) and the grid reference you want is to the right of "LR" (short for Landranger) e.g. SZ 647 992
